Most Ducks in T20 World Cup

Most Ducks in T20 World Cup

Most ducks in T20 World Cup

Australia are the defending champions after their seventh T20 World Cup and will host the next ICC tournament at home in October. A total of 16 teams will participate to play for this magnificent and prestigious trophy. The history of the T20 World Cup is very rich and has some extraordinary achievements. But not all records are always special.

Some records are ones that neither player wants to get. In this article, we are going to look at one record that none of the batsmen want associated with their name. A batsman always wants to contribute to his team, but on a bad day, he can fall short. It happens to everyone, but coming out on top is embarrassing in the puzzle. So, let's see who holds the record for most ducks in the T20 World Cup.

3. Lendle Simmons had four ducks in 14 innings during his career

There are four puzzles with four ducks in their names, but the West Indian puzzle is at the top. Because he played less innings compared to others. Lendl Simmons is an exciting batsman to watch, but he holds this unwanted record in the T20 World Cup. The right-hander played 14 innings and scored 339 runs at a strike average of 26.07 and 118.57 respectively. But overall he has four clean sheets and ranks third on the list. But his knock of 82* against India in the semi-final of the 2014 World Cup knocked India out of the tournament.

2. Tillakaratne Dilshan took five ducks in his innings in 35 matches

The ratio to zero will increase as you play more games. An opener always has a very tough task as he has to score quickly and that too against the moving ball. The former Sri Lankan opener is second on the list with five ducks in 35 matches in the T20 World Cup. Dilshan played for Sri Lanka in this ICC tournament from 2007 to 2016. He scored 897 runs at a batting average of 30.93 and 124.06 respectively. He is also the only second batsman with more than 100 boundaries. Dilšan also won the "Golden Bat" in the 2009 edition.

1. Shahid Afridi (Five Ducks) in 34 matches

When it comes to power-hitting the ball, there aren't many who can match former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi. He was one of his kind who started his career as a batsman but later became a top-class spinner for the Men in Green. He was one of the second-highest wicket-takers in the T20 World Cup with 39 wickets. But when it comes to his batting numbers, he knows only one way to play and that is to go batting. In this way, he also came out on top. So he shares the list with Dilshan. Afridi has five ducks in 34 matches with 546 runs at an incredible strike rate of 154.23.
