Highest Partnership in T20 World Cup by Australia
Australia's brilliant and biggest partnership in the T20 World Cup
The defending champions will defend their T20 World Cup title at home. Australia will host the upcoming T20 World Cup in October. "Men in Yellow" will be the first team to win the championship twice. Especially after the mighty Australian team won their first title in the UAE last year after a 14-year wait.
But this article discusses the list of highest Australian partnerships in T20 World Cup history. Australia are arguably the best team in white-ball cricket, but it took them 14 years to win the T20 world title. But they are a strong unit, let's look at their top partnership.
3. Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell (118 runs) vs Pakistan 2014 ICC
It was the 2014 World Cup of which this was the 16th match. This match was played between Australia and Pakistan at the magnificent ground of Mirpur. Australia won the toss during the toss. Australia won the toss. Australia won the toss during the toss. Australia won the toss during the toss. When the toss was called, Australia won the toss and Australia chose to bowl instead of batting first. But the Men in Green played well and scored 191/5 in their 20 overs. Umra Akmal was the top run scorer with 94 from 54 balls. Australia could have gotten off to a better start and lost their first two wickets in the very first over.
But then Glenn Maxwell and Aaron Finch levelled the innings and added a 118-run partnership for the third wicket. Maxwell made 74 off 33 balls while Finch made 65 off 54 balls. But as soon as the partnership broke, Pakistan fought back and took the match and Australia were bowled out for 175. So the partnership was lost.
2. David Warner and Mitchell Marsh (124 runs) vs West Indies in ICC 2021
The second largest contribution to these matches was in the United Arab Emirates. It happened in the last World Cup that was played. It was a match between Australia and West Indies in Abu Dhabi. Batting first, West Indies scored 157/7 in their 20 overs. Australian bowlers did a perfect job, Josh Hazlewood took four wickets in that match. Australia lost the wicket of their captain Aaron Finch (9) early. But then Warner and Mitchell Marsh did the rest.
The duo added 124 runs for the second wicket to help their team reach the target. Unfortunately, Marsh got out after a well-executed 53 runs. But Warner continued to bat throughout the innings and remained unbeaten. The left-hander scored an unbeaten 89* off 56 balls.
1. Shane Watson and David Warner (133 runs) vs India in the 2012 T20 World Cup.
The highest partnership with Australia was in the 2012 World Cup match against India in Colombo. After winning the toss, India opted to bat first but Australia's bowling attack did a good job of restricting India's total to a lesser total. The Men in Blue scored 140/7 in their 20 overs with Shane Watson taking three wickets. The two Australians opened the target and added 133 runs to help their team win the match.
Watson also did well with the bat. He scored 72 off 42 balls, including two fours and seven sixes. David Warner, on the other hand, remained unbeaten on 63* off 41 balls. Australia won the match by nine wickets and 31 balls to spare.
