Former Pakistan captain Bisma Maruf has announced her retirement from cricket.

Bisma Maroof, the former Pakistan captain, announced her retirement from cricket on Thursday. The 32-year-old has represented Pakistan in 136 ODIs and 140 T20Is in an 18-year career. Although she failed to register a century in international cricket, she holds the record for Pakistan in both formats with 3369 ODIs and 2893 T20Is and most fifties with 21 and 12 respectively.

After making her international debut at 15 in 2006, she took over as captain of the national team in T20Is in 2016 and ODIs a year later. She led the team in 34 ODIs and 62 T20 matches, winning 16 and 27 matches respectively – the best win percentage among Pakistan women captains.

Despite many injuries, Marouf played in eight World Cups and was part of the team that won gold medals at the 2010 and 2014 Asian Games.

Apart from being the cornerstone of Pakistan's batting for more than a decade and being one of the best fielders, Maroof also took 80 international wickets with her part-time wicket-taking.

He has expressed in one of his statements that I have decided to retire from my dear and beloved game. My cricket journey has been an incredible and wonderful journey of challenges, unforgettable memories and victories. Family members supported me a lot so I am thankful to them.

I am extremely grateful to the Pakistan Cricket Board for believing in me. It gave me a platform to showcase my skills. PCB's support is no less than a gift. Especially their support in implementing their first parent policy for me. Because of this, I represented my beloved country.

I am also very thankful to my fans as they have been very supportive throughout my career wherever and wherever I have represented my country. Finally, I am grateful to my teammates who are my family to me. The friendship that we cannot forget. I like it very much.
