Not all superheroes wear capes and not all want to save the world. Some — Samuel L. Jackson as Mr Glass, hope to believe in themselves even as the world perceives them as freaks, while the others — James McAvoy as ‘the beast’ and 23 other personalities, may just want to protect themselves. To cut to the chase, Glass is terrific but has its share of underwhelming moments. However, if you are the type who likes the journey regardless of the destination, Glass is your film. It convinces you to decode its relevant theory — faith vs logic, who wins?

Ratings:1.5/5 Review By: IANS Site:  News18

The film reflects on human nature, the struggle between good and evil, all of it coated with that supernatural tone so specific to Shyamalan. On the performance front, the three actors perfectly camouflaged in their characters give a feeling of deja vu, but nevertheless, as usual James McAvoy steals the show with his astonishing chameleon-like performance. While Sarah Paulson is staid as Dr Staple, Anya Taylor-Joy is wasted as Casey Cooke, a survivor of the Beast’s abuse. Overall, the film is too contrived to be taken seriously and seems like an unfinished product.

M Night Shyamalan can be depended on to spring a surprise with each new film. Unfortunately in the case of Glass, it is an unpleasant one. There was promise in the story, but the promise is squandered. Shyamalan incorporates flashbacks and plot twists galore, but gives you little to invest in or make his tale effective. Glass is now the second-least-impressive title, after The Last Airbender, in Shyamalan’s canon. Sigh.

GLASS STORY

M. Night Shyamalan brings together the narratives of two of his standout originals—2000’s Unbreakable, from Touchstone, and 2016’s Split, from Universal—in one explosive, all-new comic-book thriller: Glass. From Unbreakable, Bruce Willis returns as David Dunn as does Samuel L. Jackson as Elijah Price, known also by his pseudonym Mr. Glass. Joining from Split are James McAvoy, reprising his role as Kevin Wendell Crumb and the multiple identities who reside within, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Casey Cooke, the only captive to survive an encounter with The Beast. Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.
