Most runs in a T20 World Cup in a single edition

The T20 World Cup is just a few months away and all the teams are making sure that no stone is left unturned in the preparations for this spectacular event. But in the rich history of the World Cup, several great players set the tournament on fire.

In this article, we will discuss the list of players who have scored the most runs in a single edition so far. This list includes some of the best batsmen in the history of cricket who simply changed the entire dynamics of the game. As we all know T20 format is a very skill game for both fans and bowlers. So it takes a lot to perform. Let's look at it.

3. Babar Azam (303 runs) in 2021 World Cup

The Pakistani captain has made his mark in international cricket since his arrival. It would not be wrong to say that he has left batting far behind and is currently the best white-ball cricketer in the world. For the past several years, he has been seen playing like this. Babar broke several records in the last T20 World Cup in UAE.

His performance also helped his team reach the semi-finals of the tournament. He is third in the list. The Pakistan captain played six matches and scored 303 runs at a best average of 60.60. He also became the first captain to defeat India in the World Cup. Babar also scored four fifties in six innings in the 2021 World Cup and ended the season as the highest run-scorer.

2. Tillakaratne Dilshan (317 runs) in 2009 World Cup

Sri Lanka reached the final of the second round of the tournament in 2009. Tillakaratne Dilshan was the main reason for their success. The all-rounder played a role and is one of the most successful batsmen in T20 World Cup history. Dilshan was dismissed for a wicket in the final and Sri Lanka lost to Pakistan in the final.

However, the star batsman ended the season as the highest run-scorer and also won the 'Golden Bat'. He played seven matches and scored 317 runs at an average of 52.83, including three fifties. He is just two runs behind Virat at the top. But Dilsan's performance is too difficult for many batsmen.

1. Virat Kohli (319 runs) in 2014 ICCT T20

There are very few records that the former Indian captain does not hold. Here too he tops the list of most runs in a single World Cup. Virat helped his team throughout the tournament. This resulted in the Men in Blue finishing the tournament as runners-up after losing to Sri Lanka in the final.

But Virat Kohli's feat is still a record in itself. He scored 319 runs in just six innings at an incredible average of 106.33, including four fifties. Virat scored 72 in the semi-final and 77 in the final. He still holds the record for scoring the most runs in a single World Cup.
